Meeting Human Needs

How much margin have you built into your routine to actually help people? Or, is your schedule so crammed full of work and activity, that you have no time for connecting with people in a one-to-one, heart-to-heart kind of way.

The whole point of Stellar Impact is that we are working to restore community, relationships, intimacy, and connection with people we care for, come together with, and help.

So. Christy had me put this update in. “Erl, how can people know how much time you spend just helping people, you and I both, if you never tell them?” For instance, this past Sunday, we drove two hours to have a conversation with a friend in recovery, just to give him the encouragement he needed to know that someone actually cares.

You never know when that kind of thing might make a huge difference in someone’s life, or even keep them alive!

Of course, this puts me in a bit of a quandary – between the principles of letting your giving be done in secret and, as a leader, setting an example that others can follow. So, somewhat reluctantly then, I am agreeing to share with you a little of what we do with our schedules to help others — in the hopes that you will be encouraged to do the same.

Bless you to all of you who keep it real!
